WHAT IS THE WRINKLE REDUCING TREATMENT?

A non-surgical treatment solution to soften facial lines and wrinkles.  They have a variety of uses from relaxing the muscle that cause the wrinkles, to improving the quality of skin. There are multiple brands of anti-wrinkle injections but regulations do not allow us to name them, so they are referred to as anti-wrinkle injections.

HOW DO THEY WORK?

Small amounts of a purified protein are injected into the muscle to relax the muscle and soften overlying wrinkles and lines.  The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance.  Anti-wrinkle injections work on relaxing movement lines thereby reducing the size and depth of the wrinkles. With regular treatments the visible signs of ageing are dramatically reduced.

Careful treatment of particular areas while respecting the anatomy, allows us to lift the corners of the mouth, soften neck bands, soften lines around the mouth, give the appearance of a slightly fuller top lip, lift the jowls and brows, open the eyes up, and correct asymmetry, all while softening facial wrinkles.

ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT FAQ

LISA TALKS ABOUT REDUCING THE APPEARANCE OF WRINKLES

DOES IT HURT?

The needles are very fine and some injections may be felt with a very short acting sting, and some won’t be felt at all.  As it is a short procedure no anaesthetic is required.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

There are many areas that can be treated and many uses for anti-wrinkle injections.

See the facial diagram. These include:
•    Softening fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

•    Correcting a gummy smile.

•    Reducing the size of the masseter (chewing muscle) for a jaw slimming treatment, but also to help with tension headaches, teeth grinding and wear and tear on the teeth.

•    Nefertiti neck lift to improve neck bands.

•    Chin correction- reduce chin crease and dimpling.

•    Brow lift- to open out the eyes and lift the arch of the eyebrow.

•    Hyperidrosis -to reduce the amount of sweating in both axilla’s (armpits).

WHAT IS THE DOWN TIME, AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

There is no down time and the procedure only takes 30 minutes at the most.

We recommend a 2-week window before a special event to give enough time for the product to completely work, and in case you do get a little bruise.

See the pre -treatment recommendations to help minimise your risk of a bruise in the lead up to the treatment, if you do bruise easily with treatments.

For bruise cover ups and healing we are a proud stockist of Oxygenetix post procedure make up. This is available in clinic and can be used to accelerate the healing process after any injectable and skin treatment.  It can also be used as an everyday breathable makeup to cover up any skin imperfections, bruises, rosacea, tattoos, or just to incorporate into your daily makeup routine.  See the professional products page to find out more or let us colour match you during your skin consultation.

ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT MORE FAQ

CAN I HAVE DERMAL FILLERS, SKIN NEEDLING, LASER OR OTHER SKIN TREATMENTS AT THE SAME TIME?

A 2-week window is recommended from skin treatments and dermal fillers to ensure the best possible results. We are placing the product exactly where it needs to be, so avoiding possible movement to an adjacent muscle is so important for 24 hours afterwards.  Post treatment instructions will also be given to you explaining this in detail as well as during the consultation process.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

After 3 days you may notice a softening of the lines but the product can take up to 10-14 days to see the full results.  During this time, you may notice one area working faster than another, but give it time to completely work.  If this is your first time having the area injected, or first time having a treatment with us we like to see you for a review 2 weeks after your treatment.  This is a complimentary appointment to see the full results, compare your before and after photos, and allows us to alter the dose if required.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

It is dependent on many factors, and this can vary from appointment to appointment. For example, the muscle that has been injected and how strong it is, the look you are wanting to achieve i.e. are you wanting some movement or no movement in the area, the depth of the wrinkles, lifestyle, medical conditions, metabolism, and the dose that was injected.

Most patients come in for regular treatments every 3 months to keep those pesky wrinkles away and maintain their results. With anti-wrinkle injections the dose can be altered depending on the amount of movement present.  Your desired look might also change from time to time so each treatment we review the dose and the look you are wanting to achieve. Therefore, each treatment might be slightly different to the last and does vary greatly between patients.

An example of differing amounts of longevity is a lip flip vs the frown. A lip flip only requires a small dose to maintain muscle activity and strength, but just enough to soften the fine lines around the mouth, so this is an area that doesn’t last as long as the frown. A lip flip may last approximately 6-8 weeks whereas a frown treatment may last up to 5 months (this is a guide as it is dependent on the factors discussed above).

HOW MUCH DOES THE TREATMENT COST?

It is dependent on the factors discussed above as to the amount of product needed to achieve the desired aesthetic result. The price is provided during the consultation when a personalised treatment plan is created just for you.  A summary of approximate prices can be found on the Cosmetic Injectables page or book in for a consultation so we can give you an exact price.  A lip flip starts from only $36.80.

WHY DO YOU CHARGE PER UNIT AND NOT PER AREA?

Most of our patients require a smaller than standard dose to achieve their desired result, while maintaining their natural expressions. The cost is therefore more affordable, so you are only paying for the dose you receive, rather than a standard dose per area that may cost more.

TREATMENT RISKS

All cosmetic injectables have potential risks and undesired outcomes.  These are discussed during the consultation and again before your treatment, as well as when signing and reviewing your consent form.  The prescribing doctor also discusses these with you before authorising the treatment.  Please see the full list in the risks summary page or contact us for more information.

WHAT OTHER AREAS CAN ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS BE USED FOR AND WHAT OTHER USES DOES IT HAVE?

Anti wrinkles injections are most popular for relaxing the muscle to soften fine lines and wrinkles but it can be combined with other treatments and injected into the skin to improve the skin quality, without relaxing the muscle at all.

Combining anti-wrinkle injections with an injectable skin booster will improve the skin condition. The whole face, neck and decolletage can be treated to help with decreasing the size of pores, decreasing facial sweating, tightening up the skin, improving skin quality and giving the skin an overall improvement in its glow and texture.

The ‘microtox facial’ is another example where small doses of anti-wrinkle are injected into the dermis (and not the muscle) to give an improvement in overall skin health, condition, quality and glow. It will also reduce redness and can help with rosacea. For oily skin these superficial injections into the skin can reduce sebum production as well as reduce the size of your pores.

There are added benefits to improving skin quality- it may also help your anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to last longer as the skin is more hydrated with an improvement in overall condition.

CAN I COMBINE ANTI-WRINKLE WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, sometimes a combination of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers might be needed if the line is very deep, and is still visible after having it injected with anti-wrinkle injections.   As the anti-wrinkle injections work on movement lines, with time and regular maintenance the wrinkle will soften and might not need to be filled with dermal fillers.

All our treatments work in harmony at Restore My Glow - to maximise your aesthetics result, but we always recommend a 2-week window when combining with other treatments to the same area.  Working out which treatment to start with first will be discussed during your consultation where we tailor your treatment plan specific to your anatomy, your skin and aesthetic goals.
