FROWN LINE TREATMENT
with anti-wrinkle injections

Repeated frowning, squinting, thinking or concentrating and screen/ computer use can cause a furrow in between your eyebrows.  They can be referred to as the ‘angry 11’s’, where others think you are frowning and angry, even when you are not.  This can cause a lot of distress and embarrassment for patients.

These frown lines become deeper with repeated frowning, and due to the decline of collagen and elastin, the lines can remain and become a deep fold.

The frown muscle is called the Glabella and treating this area can soften the lines and make you appear less tired, less angry looking and less aged beyond your years.  The result is a softer, more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

HOW TO GET RID OF FROWN WRINKLES

If they are soft and haven’t become a deep furrow, they can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections to relax the muscle and prevent further frowning. Some frown lines will completely disappear.

If they are deep and noticeable even when not frowning, they may take a few treatments to soften, or may require a combination treatment with anti-wrinkle injections. Either way, treating the frown with anti-wrinkle injections will soften the frown lines with repeated use, and slow down the visible signs of ageing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Small amounts of a purified protein are injected into the muscle to relax the frown muscle and soften overlying wrinkles and lines.  The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections work on relaxing movement lines thereby reducing the size and depth of the angry 11’s. With regular treatments the visible signs of ageing are dramatically reduced.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

There is no down time and the procedure only takes 20-30 minutes at the most.

The product will start to work in 3 days and takes up to 10-14 days for the full effect.  So, keep this in mind if you are preparing for a special event.

The injections and needles are very small and some will not be felt at all, with some a short acting sting.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Redness, swelling and bruising are the most common side effects, and sometimes a transient headache.  Some small red dots might be seen but they generally resolve quickly.

The risks are discussed in detail during the consultation and again before going ahead with your treatment.  To find out more head to the potential risks page under cosmetic injectables on our website or contact the clinic.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

The frown (glabella) is an area that can last one of the longest, and can last up to 5 months.  Longevity is dependent on many factors including lifestyle, the depth of the wrinkle and how strong the frown is, medical conditions, metabolism, and the dose that has been injected.

Can other areas be injected at the same time

Yes, the frown is commonly treated at the same time as the forehead and around the eyes (crow’s feet).

With regular treatments the frown lines will soften over time and the dose can also be adjusted.  Some patients may only need a smaller dose after regular treatments as their frown lines soften and disappear.
