CHEEK VOLUMISING AND REJUVENATION OF THE MID FACE
gold coast
Question 1.
What is a cheek rejuvenation and enhancement treatment?

A specific volumising product is used to enhance the cheeks by replacing lost volume in the cheeks and cheek bones by increasing fullness, volume, and definition. This is done at our Restore My Glow Clinic in the Gold Coast.
Question 2.
Why do we lose volume in our cheeks?

Volume loss in the cheeks is due to the ageing process and can also be from recent weight loss. There are many fat pads on the face and the cheeks (malar fat pad) is one area where they start to change shape as we get older, and can make the face look tired and drawn.
Question 3.
What happens to the cheeks when we age?

-
When we are young our cheeks are fuller and rounder. As we age, they become flatter and lose their definition, fullness and curves.
-
The skin loses its collagen and elastin and gravity causes the face to droop and the fat pads start to descend. We are losing volume in the cheek fat pads as well as the cheek bones resulting in a flattening of our once youthful full looking cheeks.
-
A line that separates the cheek fat pads starts to become noticeable. Under eye hollows become prominent and deeper and the cheeks appear flat, nasolabial and marionette lines appear and jowls emerge making the face appear tired and heavy.

Question 4.
What are the benefits of a cheek volumising treatment?
Besides volumising the cheeks and cheek bones to give a more fuller rounder youthful cheek, cheek enhancements can do so much more to improve other areas of the face.
• Volumising the cheeks also lifts the nasolabial lines to make the face appear less heavy.
• They will begin to lift the marionette lines and begin to subtly lift the jowls.
• It will support the under-eye area and ligaments making you look more rested.
• They will fill the crease (that develops over time) that separates the cheek fat pads.
• They plump the cheeks and cheek bones to restore youthfulness, enhance the cheek bones and fat pads to restore facial symmetry, facial balance and facial curves.
• Restoring and enhancing the Ogee curve. Enhancing the Ogee curve is an important part of a cheek treatment (mid face rejuvenation treatment) as it is a beautification point that creates more curves and definition to the lateral cheek. It describes the cheekbone prominence that transitions to the mid- cheek hollow. When we are younger the cheek is fuller, and as we age it flattens losing this curve.
Question 5.
How is a cheek rejuvenation treatment performed?

-
The procedure involves strategically placing a tissue/ skin volumiser that is made up of hyaluronic acid into the cheek and cheek bone area.
-
It adds volume, and softens and smooths out creases and wrinkles, while providing structure, support, definition and skin elasticity.
-
Sometimes a combination of both volumisers might be needed to replace lost volume in the fat pad with a softer volumiser, and a firmer more structured volumiser used to enhance the cheek bones. Both products can be incorporated for a multi layering approach to give maximum lift, and definition where it’s needed the most.
-
We pride ourselves in using premium products that have been extensively researched in efficacy and safety, ranging from soft to firm volumisers to suit all skin types and all cheeks.
Question 6.
What to expect during the treatment

-
A consultation is performed first to assess your cheeks, check your suitability for the treatment, discuss the costs, explain the risks, discuss treatment alternatives and to review your medical history.
-
Pre photos will be taken for a clinical review and you will be given the opportunity to speak with a doctor before your treatment begins.
-
A cannula (blunt instrument to inject with) is mostly used when injecting the cheeks to minimise the risk of a bruise, reduce swelling and for patient comfort and safety.
-
The treatment area is thoroughly cleansed, marked out with a make up pencil and numbing cream if required is applied.
Question 7.
How long will the treatment take?
The treatment will take approx. 45 minutes. The first treatment is always longer as it includes a detailed consultation, signing of your consent forms and all the necessary paperwork.
When will I see results
-
Although the results are instant, it will take a further 2-4 weeks for the product to integrate the tissue properly and start to soften up.
-
It can take 4 weeks to get the final aesthetic result. This is when your post treatment appointment is scheduled-to compare your pre-treatment photos and review the results.
Question 8.
Are cheek enhancements painful?
Patient comfort is important to us at Restore My Glow so although the treatment is quite comfortable for most, minor discomfort in the cheeks can be felt for a few days up to a week after the treatment. Most patients generally don’t need any numbing cream.

-
The volumising product contains a local anaesthetic for patient comfort. After a few injections the cheek area begins to feel more comfortable.
-
We have a range of topical and injectable anaesthetics to alleviate discomfort.
-
Stress balls, relaxing music and distraction techniques and tools can also help and are available in clinic.
Question 9.
What are the side effects of a cheek enhancement?

With any aesthetic treatments, there are always associated risks. These may include:
-
Bruising, swelling and redness is a possibility after the treatment. This can last for a few days up to a week. These are more common side effects but there are more potential side effects that can occur.
-
A vascular occlusion is a more serious side effect of volumisers. It is rare and not as common as bruising, redness and swelling but it is important to understand them before proceeding with any treatment.
-
All risks and potential complications are discussed during the consultation process and are available on the website under potential risks and complications.

Question 11.
When should I come back for another treatment?

-
This treatment can be performed any time you are noticing changes to the fullness of your cheeks.
-
To maintain treatment results we suggest another review at approximately 6months to reassess the shape and degree of volume loss. Layering product helps to maintain the results of your cheek enhancement procedure.

Question 15.
What are the benefits of cheek augmentation with volumisers compared to surgical procedures?

When considering facial enhancements, many are drawn to cheek augmentation but are cautious of surgical procedures. Here’s why opting for volumisers might be the preferable option:

Lower-Risk Alternative
Volumisers, often composed of substances like hyaluronic acid, present a minimally invasive option. Unlike surgery, they carry significantly fewer risks, for enhancing facial features. All cosmetic procedures carry risks and these need to be understood before undergoing any treatment.

Scarring
One of the standout benefits of using volumisers is the absence of scarring. Surgical cheek augmentation often involves incisions, which can leave permanent marks. In contrast, volumisers are injected with precision, leaving no visible signs post-procedure.

Immediate Volume Restoration
Volumisers provide immediate results, restoring lost volume in the cheeks. This enhancement not only rejuvenates but also adds youthful plumpness to the facial contours without the downtime associated with surgery.

Enhanced Facial Definition
Volumisers are ideal for improving cheek definition, giving the face a more structured appearance. They subtly emphasise the natural cheekbones, enhancing one’s overall facial symmetry.

Non-Permanent and Adjustable
Unlike surgical procedures, volumisers offer the flexibility of adjustment over time. As they naturally break down, you can tweak or re-evaluate your look, allowing for personalised and evolving enhancements.

Face Slimming Effect
By strategically placing the volumisers, professionals can achieve a slimming effect, contouring the face to look more streamlined and balanced. This can enhance not only the cheeks but the entire facial profile.

For those considering cheek augmentation, volumisers offer a compelling blend of aesthetics and practicality, all while avoiding the more daunting aspects of surgery.
Question 16.
What related treatments are available besides cheek enhancement?
When exploring options beyond cheek enhancement, there are several related treatments that can help you achieve a more balanced and defined facial profile. Here's a look at some popular choices:

1. Lip Augmentation
Enhancing the lips can add volume and provide a fuller, more youthful appearance. This treatment often uses volumisers to achieve a natural look tailored to your desired aesthetic.

2. Chin Augmentation
By improving the shape and projection of the chin, chin augmentation can bring better harmony to your facial features. Options typically include injectables and implants, depending on the desired effect.

3. Jawline Contouring
Sculpting the jawline can create a more pronounced and attractive profile. This can be achieved through volumisers or surgical procedures, giving a sharper and more defined look.

Each of these treatments complements cheek enhancement by working together to enhance overall facial symmetry and attractiveness. Consulting with a health care professional can help determine which combination of treatments is suitable for your individual goals.

Question 17.
How much volumisers are typically required for cheek augmentation?

The amount of volumisers needed for cheek augmentation varies depending on individual facial structure and personal goals. However, several factors can influence the exact amount needed.

It’s crucial to collaborate with an experienced health care practitioner to develop a personalised treatment plan. This ensures that the amount of volumisers used complements your unique facial anatomy and meets your aesthetic expectations. Volumes will be discussed during the consultation where the degree of volume loss can be determined.

Question 18.
How much do volumisers for the cheeks cost?

When considering cheek volumisers, the cost can vary based on a variety of factors. Due to advertising restrictions on these products, a consultation is required and during this consultation the amount needed, costs and treatment benefits and risks will be discussed.

Prices may increase depending on the type and amount of volumisers used.
-
Product Considerations: Different brands of volumisers, have varying price points. The choice of product will influence the overall cost. The skill and expertise of the practitioner will also influence the cost.
-
Treatment Suitability: Before any treatment, a consultation will help determine if volumisers injections are appropriate for your specific needs and concerns. If deemed unsuitable, the procedure won't proceed, ensuring safety and satisfaction.

Keep in mind that while price is an important factor, selecting a qualified and experienced health care practitioner should be your top priority to ensure the best results and enhance your features safely.
Question 19.
What qualifications should a practitioner have to safely administer volumisers?

When considering volumisers, it's crucial to ensure that the health care practitioner is highly qualified to perform the procedure safely and effectively. Here’s what you should look for:
-
Medical/ Nursing Licensing: The practitioner should be a licensed medical professional. Look for certifications such as AHPRA registration, indicating they are permitted to practice within the relevant jurisdiction.
-
Specialised Training: Beyond standard medical or nursing credentials, the practitioner should have specialised training in cosmetic procedures. This includes understanding facial anatomy and mastering techniques to provide natural-looking enhancements.
-
Continuous Education: Stay informed about whether the practitioner engages in ongoing education. Ask your health care practitioner during your consultation.
-
Experience in Aesthetic Procedures: Experience is key. A practitioner with a robust portfolio of cosmetic procedures will likely have honed their skills in creating effective, aesthetically pleasing results.
-
Understanding of Risks and Care: The practitioner should demonstrate a thorough understanding of potential risks, including side effects and complications, and provide a clear plan for aftercare.
-
How do they manage adverse events: The health care professional should also know how to manage any adverse event and have procedures in place.

By confirming these qualifications, you can ensure that your practitioner is equipped to administer volumisers safely and achieve the best possible results.

Are cheek treatments painful?

A cheek enhancement is usually one of the more comfortable treatment areas with only minor discomfort felt. Most patients don’t feel the need for numbing cream or local anaesthetic, especially when a cannula is used for the treatment.

-
Numbing cream and local anaesthetics are available if needed for patient comfort. The volumisers also contain lidocaine which numbs the cheek areas after the first injection.
-
The use of a cannula to treat the cheeks is mostly used. This minimises the need for multiple injections, is more comfortable than a needle, and also causes less bruising.
-
Distraction devices such as stress balls and relaxing music can help to alleviate any discomfort but mostly this treatment is not too uncomfortable.

Patient comfort is important to us at Restore My Glow so we will work with you to manage any discomfort you may experience.
